Carbide burs are used for removing material. Most common types of burs are single cut (SC), which removes the most amount of material at once while leaving a rough finish. They are also known as medium right hand spiral. The SC is used for general purpose where fair stock removal is required. The double cut (DC) has two cutting edges (the edges cross each other like an X). This does not remove as much material as the single cut but it leaves a smoother finish.
This is a medium tough cut tool. The tough cut enables a faster, splinter-free cutting in weld and alloy casting. The Diamond Cut (DIAMC) is a finer cutting surface which leaves a smooth surface on your material. There is also an Aluminum Cut (AL) bur which is a very aggressive bur with a wider space between the cutting edges. This allows for the chip of material to escape and not clog the tool. These are used primarily on aluminum, non-ferrous materials, soft steel, reinforced plastics, as well
as additional soft materials which is a very chunky material.
This is a great tool for all metal working people. It has a wide range of applications. Carbide burs come in different types, such as tungsten carbide burs and long shank carbide burs. You can reshape a surface removing just the right amount of martial needed. If you have a piece of material with rough edges you would use a bur to remove those edges.
